The English language version of Wikipedia, a free content online encyclopedia, published its 3 millionth article on Monday, according to an announcement on the site’s Main Page.
On the Main Page of Wikipedia a message was posted saying that “the English-language Wikipedia thanks its contributors for creating over 3,000,000 articles! (The 3,000,000th article is Beate Eriksen.)”
The 3 millionth article, about a Norwegian film actress and director Beate Eriksen, was created at 04:04 UTC by Wikipedia user Lampman.
The English Wikipedia had reached 2,500,000 articles with Joe Connor in August 2008.
